    This listings is for a genuine and original WWII German Army Sterbebild.
    Sterbebild are also known as Funeral Cards or Death Notices.
    The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics.
    Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased.
    This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War.
    These particular card was printed in remembrance of:
    Ludwig Rues
    Ludwig was a Priest and continued to serve in the capacity during the war.
    He was in service at a Field Command station and was transferred to the Reserve Hospital 1 in Liegnitz (modern day Legnica, Poland) where be passed.
    He was 31 years old at the time.
    Cards for Priests are very very difficult to find and he is wearing the chaplains piped uniform complete with the cross on his visor.
